  1. The philosophical and strategic basis of the struggle is captured in various documents by the Information and Solidarity Forum, a group established as part of the process. The two major documents here include the 2002 publication entitled “The Way Forward for the Labour Movement in Uganda: Why NOTU must Change” and The 2003 background information document on the formation of another national tradeunion centre (COFTU) in Uganda entitled, “ A new Hope fpr the Workers of Uganda: Basic Information on the Formation of the Alternative National Centre for Free Trade Unions in Uganda”!
  2. Several guiding principles had crystallized that the serious crisis in the status of labour in Uganda could be addressed by a well-functioning labour movement, and therefore, the urgent need, among others, to achieve the following:

    I. Erase the injunctions constituted within the age-old labour movement's internal rigidities;

    II. Revive and transform the labour movement through a paradigm shift in vision, structures and leadership;

    III. Establish a labour movement with the correct strategy of setting into motion the fundamental mission of achieving true economic and social advancement of workers in Uganda. Eight interventions in the Spectrum of Strategic Interventions were elaborated.
